In a world ruled by greed, lust and selfishness, its creator has had enough. God is pissed! He orders earth and all of humanity destroyed, declaring it to have been a failed experiment. Jesus, has a soft spot for humanity though and begs for one more chance to turn humanity around – The Second Coming!

He is given one year to make a difference otherwise God will follow through with his threat. The Second Coming is set in modern day Manila, with all the technology that wasn’t available to Jesus in early Palestine.

Second Coming opens with Jesus (JC to his friends) waking up from a coma in a Manila Hospital, with a total memory loss. Not only does he not know who he is, he hasn’t a clue what his mission is or who all these friends are. In The Second Coming we follow JC and his modern band of “disciples” as first they assist JC to recover his memory and then on a rollicking series of adventures that takes them all over The Philippines, from Manila to Davao and eventually to tiny Pangutaran Island in the South Sulu Sea. The character in The Second Coming will face a usurper to the title “Son of God”, terrorists from the Abu Sayef, arrest and imprisonment and world-wide media scrutiny.

This hard band of followers will endear themselves to your heart. The Second Coming is about redemption, but it is also about love, romance and humanity. Interwoven into The Second Coming is the fragile, yet blossoming romance between JC and Maria Lyn Manyanan, his No.1 “disciple”.

The Second Coming is a beautiful, heart-warming reassertion of man’s humanity. If you were a fan of “Left Behind” or the “Left Behind Series”, you can’t help but fall in love with The Second Coming.

Ultimately The Second Coming is a book that answers one of those big WHAT IF? Questions, without being judgemental or inherently religious.

My philosophy: CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY

.Funny, original and upbeat

‘The Second Coming’ is a highly original story that draws you in powerfully with its first breath. Jose Christian Castillo (JC) wakes up in a hospital bed in the Philippines suffering with amnesia. He soon discovers he’s part of a disparate group with endearing characters like Ma, Ange and Gabs, each with a compelling back story. JC begins to suspect they are all part of a bigger destiny and his dreams of chariots, flying griffins and a golden haired warrior echo that thought. The story leaps forward after JC averts a tragedy. Slipping rapidly into character, JC starts to exhibit behaviour with religious parallels. After a visit from his best celestial friend the pieces of the jigsaw start to fall into place and JC’s destiny becomes evident.

Two thousand years on, JC is in for a wild ride on a grand scale as the last time he didn’t have to contend with romance, computers, guns, social media, FBI agents, television reporters and the legal system—but for readers it makes a great story. The backdrop of the Philippines with its beaches, people and climate feels authentic and alive. ‘The Second Coming’ is for readers who are looking for an entertaining and differently-flavoured romantic fantasy. It’s upbeat and told in a fresh setting with humour and warmth..

Okay, I had no idea what to expect when I started reading this book. What I loved most about it was the author’s amazing ability to make it an enjoyable read for both Christians and non-Christians. As someone who often ponders “what if” questions relentlessly, I found this story to be eye-opening read, both deep and light at times. I was able to sit back and enjoy the story, but at the same time there were so many underlying themes and question points — which I LOVED!! There were quite a few moments when I literally laughed out loud. It’s an eccentric, imaginative tale about what would happen if Jesus Christ returned in modern times to save the world from itself all over again. The characters are so well-developed and the scenes so descriptive, that I couldn’t help being impressed with the author’s writing style. And how to classify this book? Wow, I have no idea. It’s humor, adventure, and all around off-the-wall speculative fiction crammed into one. Kudos to the author!! This is such a creative book and I’d read it again..

Wired. Wacky. Wonderful.
Well what do I say, I was very tempted to leave the review with the first three words, but even that would not do this justice. Would a book work with J.C and Ma trying to stop god from destroying the world because he messed it up the first time. The answer is a simple yes. I don’t know if this is a fresh take, a new take, a different take, or the same take, because it really doesn’t matter all I know is that it’s a brilliant take. After a bit of a slow start you will find you cannot put this down as the endearing jc and ma grip you
I actually forget I was reading a story that just may have been told before.
Grant leishman, in my humble opinion has taken the worse thing he possibly could, tore it up and produced a brilliance , this is unlike anything I’ve ever read and I just want to shout from the hilltops. I don’t know anything about leishman but he has produced a masterpiece.
Just one more thing , I read somewhere that someone didn’t like the cover, believe me it’s perfect.
