I teach my students how to do Book Talks in order to recommend books that they would like for the rest of us to read. This is what my book talk would look like for Seven Fish Tree: Excellent read! One of the two best reads of the summer for me. If you believe in miracles this is a must read. If you don’t believe in miracles you will after reading Whale’s book. Of course, using Ronnie Shaw’s nickname that I know him by would create lots of questions at this point. I would answer those and any questions about the book without revealing too much because I want them to get hooked and read it. One of those questions is always, “Why did you like this book!” My response would have to be, “It made me laugh, cry, and gave me goose bumps. I love a book that creates so many emotions and also makes me look at my faith.”
My second best read is The Yellow Bus Boys also by Ronnie Shaw…when Linda, my sister-in-law, and I went to Atlanta to visit old friends I had to ask…what is Whale’s real name? Yes, it is Ronnie Shaw. He grew up, became a police officer now retired, has now become an author of two books. The Yellow Bus Boys is the best coming of age, stand up to bullies, funniest book that I have read! Best of all I know the author and this is his story. I knew that his life growing up was tough, but man, I am so proud of the kid that I met at my brother’s house many years ago. He was funny them and is still funny. What a wonderful book signing, storytelling time we had at the Varsity (the place to go in Atlanta)! Can’t wait for The Yellow Bus Boys to make it to Amazon!

After reading Seven Fish Tree I was amazed at what a great read it turned out to be. I was blown away with the style in which it was written and its most provocative, inspiring and profound message. I have never been on a trip like the one Ron takes you on in his story. It is most definitely a must read if you would like to consider the future of mankind.
And for me to say I was amazed by this author, really means something, because I have known him for close to fifty years. When someone you have known that long can touch your imagination and make you think in the way Ron does in Seven Fish Tree, he truly must be a very, very gifted writer.
