I was very intrigued by the book cover and the idea of living a satisfied life. After all, that’s what the majority of people want, but the key is defining what is “contentment” and “satisfied”. Ask 100 people what those words mean and you might get 105 different definitions! The subtitle of the book provides you with the book message and a power-packed little book it is!

Guy Jones doesn’t try to tackle the monstrosity of “being satisfied” or “content” or “living happy” and all of the various ways and hacks you get with it. Rather, he tackles just one, but if you’re going to attack one item for being satisfied, then the one to attack is ENVY.

It took me about an hour to read the book, but I will spend the rest of my life putting into daily practice the pot of nuggets of wisdom included.

Covered in five parts that include: “WHAT”, “WHY”, “HOW”, “Before You Do Anything” and finally “the PLAN”, this book combines history, medicine, psychology and practicality all focused on envy and overcoming it.

Nuggets I loved:

* The distinction between “envy” and “jealousy” in chapter 1, as well as what various religions and history teaches about envy.
* The Facebook comparison exercise in chapter 2 that all of us should take. I took it and my lists were so far out of balance it made me stop and really wonder how to fix it. Note: I kept reading and the answer was provided and I’m putting it into practice now

* Being a detail nerd I really enjoyed the analysis of our internal and external responses that envy elicits.

* Of course, I was anxious to get to the fixes and Guy Jones doesn’t disappoint with short-term and long-term fixes.Read more ›

A great book to help remind you of what is really important and how to refocus your priorities. After shedding a light on why we feel envy and what it can do to us, this book shows some specific action measures to start you down the path of an envy-free satisfied life.

There is even a section on “short hacks”, little things you can start doing right away to get going.

Overall easy to read, with good information and simple ideas that you can implement right away

Sometimes we pretend not to be filled with envy but we have all been there. It’s not good for us and Guy Jones gives great advice on how we can avoid the negative impact on both our physical end emotional health. His mother’s wise words really resonated with me – you just never know what has gone for the other person to make their achievement so we have no right to judge and begrudge them their success. A very satisfying and informative read. Thank you Guy.

I’ve often wondered why some people find it necessary to allow envy to cloud their minds and judgements. Satisfied addresses this and much more in terms of why envy takes over and how to avoid these emotions destroying positive moments in life.

Guy suggests some steps for self-evaluation and how to identify if and why one may feel envy toward people they know and strangers alike. I participated in these exercises and it was a good way to put most of my emotions under the microscope and place them in check. Until one is ready to confront how he or she feels and why those feelings exist, there is always room for envy to sneak into position and ruin quality relationships.

I enjoyed learning about the mental and physical symptoms that accompany envy. I will be using these techniques to help with those I encounter who may be suffering from any symptoms and suggest they read Satisfied. By no means do I suggest that this book be used to “diagnose” others, but it would be a handy tool to avoid conflict as much as possible, in my opinion.

I rather enjoy all that life has to offer, and envy has no place. This was an excellent book to help me reflect on how I handle situations and I recommend this as a read for anyone.

Book Satisfied helps us to be free fron envy abd enjoy our life. The author of the book found the roots of envy and jealousy not only in humans, but also in animals’ behavior. Those emotions are our enemy and they “eating us inside”. I learned from the book that we don’t want to admit those emotions, but our behavior such as resentment, anger, emulation, the Narcistic wound, and our external symptoms explain their presence. I also learned humor and spirituality as good steps to get rid of envy. This book is very usful for keeping our mental health and create satisfied life, and I highly recomend it to read and apply in life.

This book is aimed at releasing a very dark “don’t go there” area of our human consciousness–envy. When it rears it ugly head, our very existence can be disused physically and mentally. This book is an explanation and guide for a way out of it and resolving our issues with envy. This four-letter word can consume us but Mr. Jones, through his own experience analyzing every aspect of this feeling and being able to resolve it with systematic guidance. He reminds us to be aware of what appears on the surface is not always what it appears to be.
