About the Author

Ron Ripley“Ron Ripley is a husband and father surviving in New England, a place which seems to be getting colder every day.  He grew up across from a disturbingly large cemetery where he managed to scare himself every night before going to bed.  Mostly because of the red lights that people put in front of the headstones.  Those things are just plain creepy to a kid.

Ron enjoys writing horror, military history and driving through the small towns of New England with his family, collecting books and giving impromptu lectures on military history to his family, who enjoy ignoring him during those dreadful times

Author, Ron Ripley has redeemed himself in my eyes after the last book I read by him……He wrote an excellent and terrifying, haunted house novella…..I was reading it late at night and had to stop it was so scary…….It reminded me of a movie I saw a few years ago called, “Haunting In Connecticut”….There were jumps and frights every minute throughout this story….I actually felt sorry for this couple getting stuck with this house, especially when they find what is in the basement………So many evil spirits lurking around every corner of the house…..Much like poltergeists to me, anyway……The ending was very climatic with plenty of deaths, that you actually wonder if this couple will survive for the next part in the series……

Jenny and Brian Roy move out to the quite country into their new home which has a farmhouse connected……As , soon as they move in, things start missing and some strange little occurrences will happen….But, they have no idea what is happening to people on the outside of their property…..When Jenny goes to work the next morning, Brian will decide to go exploring around the farmhouse which he finds a hidden tackle room that was used as a boy’s locked cage with chains and all….While there he will run into the ghost of a little boy named Paul, that threatens him with death……..Brian will be saved by someone who tells him to get “iron and salt”……..

Now I don’t even want to tell you what’s in the basement……You may not read it at all……I know I would have been out of that house instantly…..

I started this late last night and I just finished this a few hours ago. And I’ll admit going in, I wasn’t overly impressed, it seemed at first like any typical horror story, but as the pace picked up, I found myself unable to put it down. I was truly terrified by the entities haunting the couple that had just arrived in their new home, so in the end this was for me, a great and creepy read. I look forward to reading more by this author and I’ll defintely be reading the rest of the books in this series

Review: MOVING IN by Ron Ripley (Moving In Book 1)

I totally enjoyed this story, a one-sitting riveting read. Mr. Ripley has a special talent for approaching the supernatural, as demonstrated in THE BOYLAN HOUSE TRILOGY and SHERMAN’S LIBRARY TRILOGY. MOVING IN is just jam-packed with ghosts, some lovely and some definitely not so, so naturally I just loved it. The living are pretty lively too. I especially enjoyed the characters of Samuel and Leo.

Fortunately, our beleaguered householders Brian and Jenny take up the call, and will reappear in a new installment. Can’t wait!

This is not the first book I’ve read from this amazing author. Let me say, firstly, I’m an old school Stephen King fan and have been reading his books for close to forty years. It is highly unusual for me to leave a book review at all and even more unusual for me to admit I see things in a writer that remind me of King! In the case of Ron Ripley, I have to do both. This book, I believe, is my favorite so far. You will be pulled in immediately and from there it’s a wild, scary ride. I was unable to put it down. My suggestion is get this book. Sit down, hopefully in a well lit room, and settle in for a good old-fashioned horror story! I’m buying the sequel now.

This book hooks you in from chapter one. The living characters are people you would like to know because their personalities are genuine and realistic and the non living are creepy and unnerving creating a tale that is hard to look away from even though you might want to sleep with the lights on…

This is the first book in Ron Ripley’s Moving In Book Series.
Jenny and Brian have just moved from the city into a quiet farmhouse away from the city. With Brian’s work and maybe too much of the drink, he has suffered a heart attack, and this is his chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of this old life though he’s not crazy about it. They have moved into a farm that has graced the property for over one hundred years, the Kenyon Farm. However, the couple was expecting a nice quiet stressful, and empty house—what they got was nothing of the sort.
Strange events start to happen at the home, and when they find a hidden room down in the basement, they also find the graves of the Kenyon family. It would seem that the family hasn’t left yet and one of their members, a little boy who died fall from the roof of the home, is a sadistic little son of a bitch. Jenny and Brian will find out that not only are ghost real, but they can be deadly.
This book is an amazing read, suspenseful, thrill, and unlike a ghost story, I have read before. Ron Ripley has outdone himself with this exceptional writing and storytelling. I would highly recommend this read.
