Mimi has once again written a work of art. The characters are vibrant, strong and have 3D personalities. I admired the strength and unselfish love of the lady rancher Mama Rose and loved the gentle motherless Anne. Now Clint was mesmerizing let alone gorgeous and little Max endearing. This may sound sugary but it is the reverse as there is tragedy, sadness, humour, joy and undying love.
Mimi has the gift of the artist as she describes the delicacies of the Patisserie, the whole place came alive. From Paris we were swept to the US and I will not go further as it will spoil it for the reader. This is a book to be placed on the bookshelf or stored in Kindle Cloud to be read and read again. My congratulations on such a wonderful book.

A fantastic read!! This was a great story about love, secrets, and happiness. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put it down.
Anne is an 18 year old girl from Paris who comes to the Walsh Texas farm as an exchange student. She instantly connects with Rose Walsh because she lost her mother and Rose treats her like her own. Rose’s son Clint is 23 and helps work on the farm. Anne has a crush on Clint but doesn’t lead on to it. After a night of drinking Clint and Anne have one night together. Things happen that change everything forever and Anne is forced to leave Clint and move on. Years later they are reunited under tragic circumstances. Anne know she needs to tell Clint all the secrets she left with. Once they are revealed, where will that leave Anne and Clint?Reviewed by: Amy Zec

This book had it all! Love, betrayal, and a sense of loss. Clint and Rose find each other only to lose each after a night together. When someone keeps a child from their father you know that storyline is always going to be interesting! Clint thought he made the right choice picking the woman that he thought he loved, but as you will read that was not to be the case. I think this book was well written, the characters were well developed, and the storyline moved at a nice pace where you didn’t feel that you were missing out or it wasn’t believable! Love Me Tender is by Mimi Barbour. It is one of the books in the boxed set Ten Brides for Ten Heroes. The books all have the same plot which is very simple-boy meets girl, have problems, make up and get married. They are good for mindless reading and they are simply fun. This is one of the better ones. I couldn’t put it down.
Anne had gone to Walsh Creek as an exchange student her senior year in high school. The ranch in Texas was definitely different from Paris. Anne was homesick; but Clint and his mother Rose helped her get over it and have a great time during that year. It could only have been better if Clint had returned her love; but he was mad about Cathy, not her. However, they did have one night that both would remember. Clint would remember because he could not remember the girl he made love to and assumed it was Cathy but he could never repeat the experience. Anne would remember because she became pregnant with her son, Max. Anne returned home and found out she was pregnant but decided not to tell Clint when she received a letter from Rose telling her that Clint and Cathy were to be married and were having a baby. Rather than cause either Clint or Cathy any hurt, she chose not to tell Clint.
Nine years later, Rose comes to France to visit Anne. She tells Anne that Clint divorced Cathy and that Cathy had left her daughter with Clint. Rose had raised her with Clint’s help and now she was eight and very shy and quiet. Rose also told Anne that she was dying of cancer and she need Anne’s help before dying and after she needed her to be there for Debbie. Anne could not resist Rose’s request and heads for Texas.
Clint has changed over the past nine years. He has turned hard and distant like his father had been.

Annie and Clint’s story is one where life gives them a beautiful second chance! I read this book as the last in the lot of a boxed set called the Ten Brides for Ten Heroes. Since i have already posted a review for the boxed set when I finished four books I realized i just had to come and complement the author here on this book. What I liked best about this book was the fact that there are no undue histrionics. Each character deals with the situation that they are thrown in to in a mature manner. Even the spiteful ex-wife is human enough to want to be a mother to Debbie in the only way that she knows best- by giving her into the care of a loving family. Little Max is totally adorable and I enjoyed the whole book so much that I read it in one day. Just couldn’t get down to putting it away to read the next day. Its a lovely story told beautifully. Very much recommend reading it.
