Today’s technology, travel and education have turned our daily food intake on its ear. Remember when our weekly family menu consisted of menus like boiled egg and soldiers or baked beans on toast for breakfast, meat and three vege for dinner, and Sunday roast lunch followed by trifle and custard. Well, things have changed; travel has widened our horizons; our eating habits have grown up; our tastes become more sophisticated, as you will find in How to Cook Healthy Meals in Minutes. Well, hello – Welcome to the 21st century. Now, anything goes – anything healthy, creative, and fun that is, if you are looking for a more sophisticated and adventurous diet. Food plays such an important part in our lives that cooking it should never be a chore – even less so today with an abundance of education about health and well-being as relates to the foods we eat. Plus all the amazing tools and utensils that are now commonplace in our kitchens; making food preparation quicker, easier, and more creatively attractive. Not to mention ultra-tasty. A recent survey in the US has claimed that by the year 2020, a whopping 50% of all Americans will suffer from some stage of diabetes, currently the Number One threat for kidney and liver disease, organ failure, amputations, general ill health, and death. Cooking in general should ideally be healthy and fun and definitely tasty. TV food programs – there are even channels dedicated to food – are hugely popular with viewers from all walks of life and age groups. Cooking series have shown Joe and Jane Bloggs; the IT genius, Marketing Rep, company CEO, school teacher, council worker; what can be achieved in their home kitchens with a bit of flair and application. People who have never cooked before are discovering that they are not half bad at this cooking lark. Who knows, they could be the country’s next Master Chef; the entrants are, after all, not trained chefs but ordinary people like them who have developed an interest in the art of food preparation. Food is Fun If you have a job and work hard all day then come home to a hungry family, who it is your job to feed; it may not be something you regard as fun – and that’s understandable. But what if the meals are planned ahead for you, using good nutritious ingredients that can be put together in a way that is not only easy but also attractive and tasty; and you know it’s not going to take you hours to prepare?
