Harlan Granger is discharged from the Army with a piece of shrapnel too close to his spine to remove. His future looks bleak. He hopes to find the solitude and quiet he requires to heal at home in Colorado. With the house near the river and outside of town, solitude shouldn’t be a problem in Harlan’s Haven.
Rilie Lazar has changed her life. Gone is the demand for perfection; now she has friends, a great business, doesn’t look over her shoulder anymore, and is happy. Then Harlan Granger walked into her friend’s bar and threw a corkscrew into her world. The man is tempting in a gorgeous, brooding sort of way. The haunted look in his eyes draws her in. He’s hiding something. If she can learn his secret, maybe she can ease the tension between the brothers.
The waitress at his brother’s bar intrigues Harlan but his condition doesn’t bode well for a relationship. When someone starts spying on the bar and Rilie and accidents abound, he wonders if she has secrets of her own that could cause trouble for his brother. It’s time to take action. He knows his time is short, but he has to protect them, or die trying.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a Romance Novel… I was given a copy of Harlan’s Haven in exchange for an honest review, and I’m glad I read it. I loved the characters. Men like Harlan, handsome and brooding, still gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Rilie is a woman that you can easily relate to, beautiful and strong… and Larry would be the brother you’ve always wanted to have. There is also a tinge of suspense as criminal elements threaten the lives and business of Larry and Rilie. The story was well written and offers a pleasant reading experience. Reminds me of the Silhouette novels I collected. I’ll be reading the rest of Colorado Skies.
Highly recommended even for those who think they’ve outgrown romance novels.
The way you research a certain subject and then bring these characters to life and draw us into your books so fast, that we don’t want to stop reading until the end and then were sorry its done, is just amazing.
Your dedication of this book is wonderful.
Keep up the good work and get another one out there soon
A portion of all sales from Harlan’s Haven will be donated to Hope for the Warriors.
