Thought and patience. James Mayfield spells it out here in an accessible book. He fights the belief that a diet must be limited, unpalatable choices. Imagine a bodybuilding contestant enjoying ice cream and chocolate bars. Meet the author!

Refreshingly, there is no MUST-EAT MENU. “I don’t know what your taste preferences are, how well you cook or what’s your food budget,” the author writes. He talks not of good/bad foods, but more practical foods.

His cornerstones are planning (researching details like body mass index), consistency and patience. He reminds us not to despair of a weight gain after a meal, or to go wild over a weight loss after a bathroom visit.

The hardest changes have to start with a first step. Mayfield is that step!

I’ve been through a couple of diet books, but finding one that helped to mesh with my lifestyle was the real problem.

My biggest problem is that I move around a lot and travel — thanks work. This crazy schedule makes it super hard for me to abide by the diets that are set in stone. I have to adapt. Who know what will be where or what I am allowed to get my hands on.

This gave me so many setbacks in my dieting goals. However, with this flexible dieting book, I was pleasantly surprised. It was recommended to me by a good friend of mine so I took him up on it. It was worth the time and money.

I now have a plan that helps me adapt to the changes and have started to see noticeable changes in both body and attitude. Excellent read!

This book busts the biggest myths about diets, The author begins the book by saying that you can eat what you love and still achieve your health goals. This is such a refreshing change as compared to books that keep telling the readers what not to eat! The real photographs of James showing the transformation his body has undergone, while following a flexible diet is very inspiring. I particularly liked the mobile apps suggested in the book to track what nutrients go into our diet. I’ve started following the simple tips recommended by James such as eating at the same time every day and having dinner at least 2 hours before going to bed. Overall, a practical guide that lets people enjoy their food.

This is a very good resource for dieting. It’s a smart approach, based on science. Diets that deprive you don’t work long-term. This is a diet that will, because it’s flexible and you can eat anything you want as long as you include it as part of your overall intake. The book will help you to work out what your optimal daily intake should be and how exercise and even daily activity can affect it.

If you want to lose weight sensibly and have it stay off without depriving yourself, this book will show you how to do it.

This is a very enjoyable read on the ever popular topic of dieting. It’s easy to read, and straight to the point, and doesn’t try and ram yet another diet fad down our throats. It is also valuable that he has included sections on losing weight, gaining weight and maintaining weight also for those that need it. Some very common sense type principles in this one, that, applied individually will be helpful to many.
