The Devil’s Lieutenant
The Devil’s Lieutenant is a fresh look at the war between good and evil. In this case, Homicide Detective Jake Holyfield represents good. And the Devil is the all consuming evil force that threatens everyone.
Jake gets a call from an informant, Mikael Ruskoff, tries to tell Jake that the killer is an enforcer contracted by the Devil to collect past due debts. He has contacted Jake because he wants to help Jake in his fight. But Jake refuses to believe the Devil exists and tells Mikael, thanks but no thanks.
He continues to use standard procedures when investigating the murders. When he sees a video of one of the murders taking place and witnesses the method the killer uses, he cannot deny the Devil’s existence any more. To further complicate things, a blurred image of his best friend, Max, appears on the tape, watching from the sidelines. Jake doesn’t know how deeply Max is involved but he does know he has to save his friend from a fate worse than death.
Jake decides to do whatever he has to do to stop the killer and save Max from the same fate. Then matters take an even darker turn when the killer takes an interest in Jake’s family – his pregnant wife and two year old daughter. Just when he wonders if he’ll be able to protect his family and Max, he finds a surprising ally in Mikael Ruskoff. The battle is on.
About the author Suzi Albracht
Love to write horror thrillers with intense personal relationships between characters. I started reading earlier in life than most of my friends and spent many hours hidden in closets and under beds, sneaking in just another ten minutes of whatever book I was reading. As soon as I was old enough, my mother would send me to library to pick up books for her. This delighted me because it opened up a whole new world of books not available in school.
I read everything I could get my hands on but was drawn to sci-fi, horror and thrillers. As I matured, I would say my main influences became Stephen King, Dean Koontz and William Faulkner. My writing definitely reflects those influences.
I can honestly says my twitter bio describes me to a T – Write, scare myself, turn all the lights on, write some more. Take a break, play pool, kick butt/get butt kicked, go write more horror, double lock door.
