Chocolate Can Kill by Annie Acorn

Emily Harris believes chocolate always makes things better, until even a dozen boxes of her favorite chocolates can’t put her world back together.  Returning from a trip to New Orleans, she tumbles down the airport’s arrival escalator and, despite evidence to the contrary, believes she was pushed.

If this weren’t enough, her lawyer husband is acting strangely, her oldest son brings a tramp home as his newest girlfriend, and two friends are murdered.   Despite all, she struggles to identify the common denominator even as she is confined to her home, still munching on chocolates.

I bought this because I had read another mystery from the publisher (different author) . I expected something less polished, but this was well written, no typos or editing errors. The mystery was well exposed, you didn’t really know who did it until the end. Likeable characters. I’ll buy more from her.

Great book with a great surprised ending. Story started off slow building up characters in the story. In the middle it started catching speed. Making you guess different plots, affairs then it just escalated to heart stopping ending I think of

I read Annie Acorn’s bestseller, Chocolate Can Kill, a while back. I recently read it again, though, because I enjoyed the story that much.I also realized it was way past time to give this wonderful story the gracious nod it deserves.Question: If a person has an enemy who wants him/her out of the way permanently, how do you suppose they plan to achieve their deadly goal? Do they use a gun or a knife? Tamper with brakes on the victim’s car? Just maybe, though, this sicko has some very clever tricks up his/her sleeve to contrive a way to commit murder that’s never been done before and may be untraceable.

This is one of many reasons I applaud Ms. Acorn’s ingenuity. I never read and tell while composing my reviews, because I hate spoilers, but I will share this: The imaginative skills of Ms. Acorn are sure to make a reader think, “Wow, I never saw this one coming,” throughout the course of the story.

Chocolate Can Kill is a mystery filled with enough suspence to keep a reader on their toes throughout its entirety. I didn’t know who was coming or going, given the many twists Ms Acorn provides in her tale, but I was never confused or lost the grip on how the story was progressing. Ms. Acorn’s prose is completely engaging, as is her talent for description and narration. Also, every character is completely well defined, and each has an appropriate place in the story.

I know what works for me to captivate my interest, and this story is definitely a winner. It’s one I can assure will keep you, the reader, completely interested and focused. A truly magnificent read! How can chocolate be deadly? Read Annie Acorns’s book and find out! I promise you won’t be disappointed.
