CIA slacker Joe Chambers has been exiled to sleepy Dublin, Ireland, to run a front company publishing academic databases. He had managed to carve out a modest but comfortable existence for himself, but now head office is threatening to outsource all the work and bring him home to Langley. Joe has to do everything in his power to keep the office open while keeping his bosses onside and in the dark. A crazy, riotous, social satire, Breakfast at Cannibal Joe’s has been called “Savagely funny and deftly anarchic” and “a rare Irish foray into madcap political satire”.

Reviews

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase

Very funny and satisfyingly strange satire, set in a Dublin only marginally more dystopian than I remember a few years ago. Austerity era football under dingy floodlights, buskers routinely disappeared, dodgy fast food, the appearance of Europe’s ‘favourite fascist’ and a novel twist on cocktails, this book offers everything an ex-punk anarchist cynic with may ever wish for.
