If I Can Do It So Can You!
By Kathleen Boucher,
Have you ever wondered what people will say about you at the end of your life? There goes … who lived life to the fullest and never hesitated to take on challenges!
makes me think of the movie “The Core” where five people have the task of traveling to the center of the earth in an attempt to restart the earth’s core and in doing so save the planet. Their task is beyond insurmountable. The French scientist in the movie has the right perspective when he says, “I came to save my family. It is too big to think I can save the whole of humanity.” The point is that you don’t need to save the world. Start small and work your way up to bigger goals. Leave a legacy for those you love! Discover what you’re uniquely good at! If I can do it, so can you.
Here is my story.
I’m an award-winning author of two children’s books – A Simple Idea to Empower Kids: based on the power of love, choice and belief for kids aged 8 and younger. This book won the 2014 Preferred Choice Awards from Creative Child’s Awards and the 2014 Silver Recognition Award from Mom’s Choice Awards. Then I changed the cover and illustrations and published A Simple Idea to Empower Kids: Teen’s Edition. This book won 2014 Best Book of the Year in the Teen’s Category from Creative Child’s Awards and 2015 Bronze/3rd Place Award in Juvenile/YA Category from Feathered Quill. How did I do it? Let me tell you. If I can do it, so can you!
I’m a registered nurse who has been a nurse for the last thirty-eight years. I went into nursing because I spent my childhood having numerous operations on my left leg due to polio. Having adversity at a young age empowered me to develop the inner strength to plow through obstacles. My attitude was and still is that no one and nothing is ever going to stop me from living my dreams. So if you or your children are innately stubborn, consider it an asset and celebrate!
In July 2013, I joined the School of Online Business run by Mike Klingler and Robyn Linn because I wanted to see if there was something else I was good at. The first obstacle – I was inept at using the computer. I had never texted, rarely emailed and certainly never Skyped. My coach, Meri Har-Gil, at the Academy of Coaching Cognition, helped me overcome this. She brought out the best in me. Next I needed something to sell. So I asked my subconscious mind “What would make me want to jump out of bed each morning and be passionate about my life?” Within two weeks I started dreaming about writing children’s books. When you receive your answer, take action.
I sat down to write the book and asked, “What are three things I can teach kids? What is the most powerful force on earth?” I believe it’s the power of love. “What do countries go to war over when this is taken away?” I believe it’s the power of choice and power of belief. Then I asked, “Who is my target audience?” My target audience is kids around the world especially, those too poor to own a book or sit in front of a computer. The next question was “How do I format the story so they can remember it?” I wrote it so that it’s repetitious and easily memorized. Then I had a dream to contact Hay House. Hay House only deals with agents, and I did not have one. So I phoned Balboa Press and spoke with Ron Parsons. I asked if I could send my manuscript. The rest is history.
So first, figure out what your end point is. Do you want to live a life full of passion and endless energy? What is the question you need to ask yourself to help you reach your ideal life? Keep asking this question before you go to sleep expecting an answer. It took two weeks for me to receive my answer. When I received it, it was not what I expected. So, expect and be open to anything. Then take action. Find someone who has accomplished what you want to accomplish and ask for their help. Successful people love to offer advice. In fact, the secret ingredient that all successful people have is that they have a coach who believes in them and helps them to be the best they can be.

These books are also available as e-books on my website. http://www.greatkids.me The website has free posters on how to have faith and steps to goal setting taken from the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. These free downloads have been translated into fourteen languages, so feel free to send them to people you know around the world. Everyone loves to receive things that are free and have exceptional value.
Whenever I finish a project I ask my subconscious what’s next. I often receive guidance in the form of dreams. I designed and collaborated with my coach Meri Har-Gil, an Empowering Kids: Interactive Workshop. This workshop has nine animations and PDFs with questions that kids can answer to help reinforce what they’ve learned in each animation. These animations teach about confidence, the power of gratitude, a writing technique to deal with the effects of bullying and so much more.
So what’s my next project? I thought it would be nice to have a book to reinforce what is taught in the Empowering Kids: Interactive Workshop. It is called Nine Ways to Empower Tweens with Emma and Elliot. Here is how it came about. Two weeks before Christmas I’m at work and the name Elliot pops into my head. I don’t know anyone by that name, so I Google the meaning of the name and it means Jehovah. I can’t write a book for just a boy, I thought, and the name Emma pops into my head. So I Google the meaning of the name and it means nurse. Now I have goose bumps! When a Higher Power sends you guidance you follow it. I go home and write the first chapter. Then I have an illustrator draw Emma and Elliot. They’re fraternal twins. I write the second chapter. Next I have a cover designed. Long story short, the book is finished. All I have to do now is publish it! It was written because I asked the question, “What’s next?” and acted on the guidance received. Trust in the guidance and answers that you receive! Take action, one step at a time, and one day when you look back on your life you will be so glad that you did! If I can do it, so can you! Wishing you
all the happiness you deserve.
