Television, magazines, and newspaper articles are becoming increasingly conscious of food values. More and more we see healthy foods being promoted over junk foods. Statistics from a number of Western Countries show a steep rise in obesity and diabetes as well as heart disease and many forms of cancer. All these things have been with us for hundreds of years but never before in the numbers we are experiencing today.
Most researchers and scientists are in agreement as to the cause of these modern-day diseases i.e. TOXINS from the air in polluted cities, from sugar, salt, bad fats and highly processed refined foods. Our bodies were simply not made to take these foods over a long period of time. Our bodies need roughage, fruits and vegetables – our digestive system needs to work hard, not be lazy and sluggish by digesting only refined foods.
Individually we can’t do much about the pollution in the big cities of the world but we can cover our bases with the foods we choose to eat.
I’m pleased to see that on Google+ there are many thousands of people joining health communities, seeking a healthier lifestyle. I hear what some of you are saying, your folks ate junk food and lived to a ripe old age – sure some people can eat anything and still remain healthy but for most we have to watch what we eat.
